Wow.
If little Audrey could see where she is going in less than 160 days, she would probably laugh and run away. The fact that I get to go across the world – away from Minnesota where its either -30 degrees during the winter or super humid and hot during the summer – and be able to see a completely different group of people, hear people worship in a language I don’t understand and be able to serve the same God is so incredible to me.
There have been a couple instances where at work and even at church where people ask, “Aren’t you terrified?” or “I could never do that.” Usually I respond with by saying that I’m really excited and not at all scared, which is very much true. The fact that I get to do what Jesus told the disciples to do before He went back into Heaven, (Matthew 28:18-20) “Jesus came and told his disciples, ‘I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”‘ Like, holy smokes!! So. Stinking. Cool.
But there’s that little voice deep down that gives me that little sting or thoughts of doubt saying, “Why aren’t you scared? You could literally die and your family will never see you again.” Which in that exact same moment I notice exactly what is happening and rebuke it in the name of Jesus. My hope for this trip is that I will not allow anything that is not of the Lord in my heart and mind, which is not going to be easy, but I know that this past year has been preparing me for this.
Needless to say, I am so stinking excited. I am so excited to see how much I am going to grow, how much my team is going to grow individually, as followers of Jesus, and as a family (which is already happening and it makes me so hecking excited for how much more we will grow and get closer! ahhhhh!!!) Also, like always, I am asking for prayers always – we always need prayer 🙂
Anyhow, hopefully this first blog makes sense – I think I’m going to enjoy this! Until next time!!
